The first Student Transportation Benchmarking survey by the Michigan School Business Officials is complete. The survey is a first of its kind effort focused on pupil transportation services.
Survey participants ranged from very large to very small school districts and the results included nearly 50 percent of all the buses used across the state. MSBO hopes that by providing a series of highly relevant and meaningful performance statistics, school districts across Michigan will be better able to understand the underlying factors that impact the cost and service quality of their transportation program. As difficult decisions must be made about the allocation of resources to transportation the results of this survey can help identify strategies and techniques that can rationalize the provision of services.
